For the distance-based toll, you need a transponder (on-board unit), the so-called GO-Box. Payment is then processed automatically via the stored payment method.
There is also a special toll (also called route toll) for various tunnels and mountain pass roads. When using a special toll route, an additional fee applies (independent of the vignette or distance-based toll). The special toll applies to all vehicle classes and must be paid by all vehicle owners if they wish to use a special toll route. Toll in Switzerland
Switzerland also charges toll fees in the form of a vignette requirement, a heavy vehicle charge, and special tolls. Switzerland also offers car shuttle trains (vehicle transport trains), which can be used for a fee.
The vignette requirement in Switzerland applies to vehicles up to 3.5 t GVW (gross vehicle weight). The price of the vignette may vary depending on the vehicle class.
