Austria boasts a large number of renowned ski resorts. But which regions rank among the most popular? Below you'll find an overview of the ski resorts you shouldn't miss on your next stay in Austria.

Tyrol

Tyrol's ski regions are enjoying growing popularity. Both passionate winter sports enthusiasts and families will find a comprehensive range of options and excellent conditions here.

Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis (Level: easy to intermediate)

The Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis ski resort is known for its strong family-friendliness. The slopes range from easy to intermediate difficulty levels and are ideal for beginners and children. Families benefit from numerous offerings – from childcare to adventure arenas to indoor play halls. A special highlight is the Kinderschneealm (children's snow chalet). In the Adventure Land, children can discover the world of the mascot Murmli. Together with SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser, Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis is one of the sixteen certified ski regions in Tyrol and is therefore considered particularly family-friendly. The winter season runs from early December to early April.

SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser - Brixental (Level: easy to difficult)

Have you always wanted to visit the filming locations of the series "Der Bergdoktor" while experiencing varied slopes? Then SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser – Brixental is the ideal choice. The area offers a wide range of options for both adults and children. In addition, its location is excellent for planning trips to Munich, Innsbruck, or Salzburg. Like Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis, SkiWelt is family-friendly and offers special family ski weeks in which children up to 15 years old receive free ski passes. Of course, slopes for beginners are also available. The ski season lasts from early December to the end of March.

Ischgl (Level: easy to difficult)

If you want to combine wellness and entertainment with skiing, Ischgl is the perfect choice. The varied slopes offer enjoyment for every skill level and provide exciting variety with snowparks – even for experienced skiers and snowboarders. After an eventful day, you can relax at the Silvretta Therme and enjoy high-quality spa treatments. The start of the season is celebrated with a major event featuring international artists, such as Ellie Goulding. Ischgl also offers a diverse activity program with activities such as snowshoe hikes against an impressive alpine backdrop. The ski season lasts from late November to early May.

Sölden (Level: easy to difficult)

The Sölden ski resort is known far beyond Austria's borders. Among other things, it is home to the country's longest ski run. You can also explore the Funpark and ride down into the valley at night on the 7 km long toboggan run. Sölden also served as a filming location for the James Bond film "Spectre" – a must for movie fans. At the 007 Elements experience world, you can immerse yourself in the film set. The winter season runs from mid-September to early May.

Ski resort outside of Tyrol

Tyrol isn't the only place to impress with outstanding ski resorts. Other regions of Austria also offer impressive winter sports opportunities. The Arlberg ski resort, in particular, should not be overlooked.

Arlberg (Level: easy to difficult)

Arlberg is one of the five largest ski resorts in Austria and impresses with a unique panoramic view of the Alps. Numerous slopes await you here for beginners, advanced skiers, and professionals. In addition to classic skiing, you can try your hand at cross-country skiing or discover hiking trails. The Lech area is particularly worth seeing, with its Skyspace – an underground light artwork that is bathed in colored light at sunrise or dusk. The ski season begins in early December and ends in late April.
